I remember that day like it was yesterday. We may or may not have taken two rusty nails from Tusculum. We shall see when they put the whole thing back together and they’re missing some nails! hahaha! Love it! That will teach them to leave important historical objects in old barns. This adventure was what inspired me to try and take a piece of rock from the Colosseum! Fabulous!

Heyo! Secret time. Is this the same sign that they took down when they redesigned the new entrance? If so, I have a piece of it. The right side of the ‘T’ in ‘Sweet’ to be exact. Katie and I went wandering down by the old Barn one cloudy day and found all sorts of stuff. The remains of Tusculum weren’t locked up* at all so we wandered around checking out banister rails, doors, bricks, seriously old nails you could get tetanus from. We also found all sorts of old school furniture from the 70s and 80s. Then we found the old Sweet Briar sign just laying around in the barn. That beautiful old sign had just been retired to a dusty, dirty, hay covered floor in a barn! Bits and pieces had started falling off and that’s how I came into possession of a section of the letter ‘T.’
*There may have been an element of squeezing through a loosely chained door or an open window in all of this. When I say locked, I mean securely locked. Don’t ever present me with an opportunity to sneak in where I shouldn’t be. I inherited a mean streak of curiousness from my parents.

I think I’ve seen the exact same furniture still old and dusty. My bit of paraphernalia is a hot-pink Honor Code sign.
